HINO BUS IN QUITO, ECUADOR – 20 % savings

miles/gallon: 7.83 -> 9.8

A truck fuel saver was installed on the fuel line of a HINO bus, 10 years old, which travels the same route in Quito, Ecuador under constant traffic conditions – daily temperatures from 10 C in the morning to 22 C at noon and back to 10-12 C in the evening, slow city traffic, slight gradients, daily fuel consumption approx. 20 gallons = 80 litres.

During the first few days the fuel saver was fixed to the diesel line with a piece of tape between the stick and the line.

The motor worked noticeably better, especially uphill and when accelerating, but fuel savings were only 10%.

When the tape was removed and the stick directly attached to the diesel line, fuel savings increased to 20%.
